Empowering Innovation: Quack AI and Imperial College Launch a $69K Global Student Hackathon with BNB Chain

Imagine a platform where the brightest young minds converge to build the future of technology. That vision is now a reality. Quack AI, an innovative AI-based on-chain governance layer, has partnered with the prestigious Imperial College Blockchain Society to launch a major global student hackathon. This exciting event, backed by industry giants like BNB Chain, promises to unlock groundbreaking solutions at the powerful intersection of artificial intelligence and blockchain technology.

What is This Global Student Hackathon All About?

The AI + Blockchain Global University Autumn Camp Hackathon officially began on November 28th. It is designed exclusively for university students worldwide. The core mission is to foster innovation and provide a real-world stage for developing practical applications. Therefore, participants are challenged to create projects that leverage both AI’s analytical power and blockchain’s security and transparency.

This initiative is more than just a competition. It is a catalyst for the next generation of Web3 developers. With a substantial total prize pool of $69,000, the hackathon offers significant incentive and recognition for the most promising ideas.

Who is Powering This Collaborative Event?

A successful global student hackathon requires strong support. This event boasts an impressive roster of sponsors and partners from the crypto and tech sectors:

  • Title Sponsor: BNB Chain
  • Supporting Sponsors: Akedo, Unibase, ChainGPT, Aethir, and SpaceAgri
  • Media Partner: BitcoinWorld

This collaboration between Quack AI, a leading academic society, and major industry players creates a unique ecosystem. It connects student talent directly with the platforms and tools shaping the industry’s future.

Why is This Hackathon a Game-Changer for Students?

Participating in a global student hackathon of this caliber offers unparalleled benefits. Students gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies while solving real-world problems. Moreover, they receive mentorship from industry experts and the chance to network with potential employers.

The focus on AI and blockchain is particularly timely. These two fields are rapidly converging to create new paradigms in finance, data ownership, supply chain, and decentralized governance. This hackathon places students at the forefront of this convergence.

What Are the Key Challenges and Opportunities?

Building at the intersection of AI and blockchain is not without its hurdles. Teams must consider complex issues like data privacy, model transparency on-chain, and computational costs. However, these challenges present the greatest opportunities for innovation.

Actionable insights for participants include:

  • Start with a clear problem statement. Identify a specific issue that AI and blockchain can solve together.
  • Leverage sponsor tools. Utilize the APIs and platforms provided by BNB Chain, ChainGPT, and others to build efficiently.
  • Focus on usability. The best solutions are not just technologically impressive but also accessible and user-friendly.

Conclusion: Shaping the Future of Tech

The Quack AI and Imperial College global student hackathon represents a powerful investment in human capital. By empowering students with resources, mentorship, and a global platform, this event is poised to yield the next wave of transformative Web3 applications. The $69,000 prize pool is just the beginning; the real reward is the launchpad it provides for future tech leaders. This collaborative effort underscores a shared belief that the students of today are the architects of tomorrow’s decentralized world.

The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For

The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For

The post The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Visions of future technology are often prescient about the broad strokes while flubbing the details. The tablets in “2001: A Space Odyssey” do indeed look like iPads, but you never see the astronauts paying for subscriptions or wasting hours on Candy Crush.  Channel factories are one vision that arose early in the history of the Lightning Network to address some challenges that Lightning has faced from the beginning. Despite having grown to become Bitcoin’s most successful layer-2 scaling solution, with instant and low-fee payments, Lightning’s scale is limited by its reliance on payment channels. Although Lightning shifts most transactions off-chain, each payment channel still requires an on-chain transaction to open and (usually) another to close. As adoption grows, pressure on the blockchain grows with it. The need for a more scalable approach to managing channels is clear. Channel factories were supposed to meet this need, but where are they? In 2025, subnetworks are emerging that revive the impetus of channel factories with some new details that vastly increase their potential. They are natively interoperable with Lightning and achieve greater scale by allowing a group of participants to open a shared multisig UTXO and create multiple bilateral channels, which reduces the number of on-chain transactions and improves capital efficiency. Achieving greater scale by reducing complexity, Ark and Spark perform the same function as traditional channel factories with new designs and additional capabilities based on shared UTXOs.  Channel Factories 101 Channel factories have been around since the inception of Lightning. A factory is a multiparty contract where multiple users (not just two, as in a Dryja-Poon channel) cooperatively lock funds in a single multisig UTXO. They can open, close and update channels off-chain without updating the blockchain for each operation. Only when participants leave or the factory dissolves is an on-chain transaction…
