Student who fell to her death showed no signs of being bullied

PETALING JAYA: The Form Four student who fell to her death from a school building in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, this morning was not a victim of bullying, the education director-general said.

Azam Ahmad said the teenager was reported to be healthy and did not display any unusual behaviour before her death, Bernama reported.

“Based on my conversation with the deceased’s parents, there was no issue of her being bullied.

“She was her usual self when she arrived at school this morning,” he was quoted as saying.

Azam said the students and their parents were at the school this morning as it was report card day.

“She was said to have asked for permission to go to the toilet before the incident,” he said.

He said the state education department and the school have been instructed to look into the incident.

He also urged the public against sharing photographs or recordings related to the case out of respect for the family’s privacy and to avoid causing them further emotional distress.

Earlier this evening, Negeri Sembilan police chief Alzafny Ahmad said they were alerted to the incident at 10.48am after the victim was found unconscious in the school compound.

Police personnel were immediately dispatched to the school, where medical officers confirmed her death.

The case has been classified as sudden death.
