Something Very Bad is Going to Happen

Netflix

After, let’s say, a controversial Stranger Things finale among fans, one of the last Duffer brothers projects before they move to Paramount, when a new four-year deal starts next month, is now airing.

That would be Something Very Bad is Going to Happen, a horror miniseries (well, probably) that has now hit No. 1 on Netflix’s top 10 list, after debuting in the top 3 earlier. It’s important to note that while the Duffer brothers have thrown their weight behind this as producers, this is not them writing or directing the show as they did in Stranger Things.

Rather, the show is run by Haley Z. Boston of Brand New Cherry Flavor and directed by a team of women, Weronika Tofilska, Axelle Carolyn and Lisa Brühlmann, with Tofilska doing half of the episodes. She also did the first four episodes of Netflix megahit, Baby Reindeer.

Something Very Bad is Going to Happen has high scores, an 84% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics with a few dozen reviews in. That’s higher than Stranger Things season 5, for one. Here’s the synopsis:

This is one of two remaining shows that the Duffers are producing before leaving Netflix, the other being The Boroughs. That is out May 21, 2026, so just under two months from now. That’s a sci-fi series, and here’s the synopsis for that one:

It boasts a great cast including Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Bill Pullman, Jenna Malone and others. The creators and showrunners of The Boroughs are Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews.

The main reason the Duffer brothers left Netflix was their desire to make theatrical films. Right at the end there, they convinced Netflix to show the Stranger Things series finale in some theaters, but overall, the service does very limited runs of its in-house movies, if at all.

We do not know what they have planned over there, whether it’s new projects or one of the many IPs Paramount owns. And it may be about to own a lot more, if its purchase of Warner Bros. goes through.

Frank Sinatra’s The World We Knew returns to the Jazz Albums and Traditional Jazz Albums charts, showing continued demand for his timeless music. Frank Sinatra performs on his TV special Frank Sinatra: A Man and his Music Bettmann Archive These days on the Billboard charts, Frank Sinatra’s music can always be found on the jazz-specific rankings. While the art he created when he was still working was pop at the time, and later classified as traditional pop, there is no such list for the latter format in America, and so his throwback projects and cuts appear on jazz lists instead. It’s on those charts where Sinatra rebounds this week, and one of his popular projects returns not to one, but two tallies at the same time, helping him increase the total amount of real estate he owns at the moment. Frank Sinatra’s The World We Knew Returns Sinatra’s The World We Knew is a top performer again, if only on the jazz lists. That set rebounds to No. 15 on the Traditional Jazz Albums chart and comes in at No. 20 on the all-encompassing Jazz Albums ranking after not appearing on either roster just last frame. The World We Knew’s All-Time Highs The World We Knew returns close to its all-time peak on both of those rosters. Sinatra’s classic has peaked at No. 11 on the Traditional Jazz Albums chart, just missing out on becoming another top 10 for the crooner. The set climbed all the way to No. 15 on the Jazz Albums tally and has now spent just under two months on the rosters. Frank Sinatra’s Album With Classic Hits Sinatra released The World We Knew in the summer of 1967. The title track, which on the album is actually known as “The World We Knew (Over and…
