'Politically toxic' Cabinet member will be out before midterms: Ex-White House doctor

A former George Bush administration official has claimed one member of Donald Trump's Cabinet will be removed from their post before the midterm elections.

Ex-White House doctor Jonathan Reiner, who served as Vice President Dick Cheney's cardiologist, believes RFK Jr. will be ousted from the Department of Health and Human Services to save face on an unpopular series of departmental changes. Reiner wrote on X, "The question now is not if RFK, Jr will be pushed out of HHS, it’s when.

"He no longer has carte blanche to staff his agencies as he sees fit, several of his acolytes have been dismissed, and his vaccine activism is politically toxic in an election year."

Fellow medical expert Dr. Raghu Venugopal MD replied to Reiner's claim and suggested that, even if RFK Jr. were removed from his post, the damage to the Republican Party had already been done.

"Everything Dr. Reiner says is right, Venugopal wrote. "However, the damage has been done. RFK will be satisfied if dismissed tomorrow. He threw a carcass in the well we all drink from."

Earlier this year, the Wall Street Journal suggested RFK Jr. had lost the support of the wider Trump admin for going rogue with his unpopular vaccine positions.

According to a report, Trump aides have taken direct control over Kennedy's department after polling revealed his vaccine skepticism and other health initiatives are deeply unpopular.

Although Trump initially promised Kennedy he could "go wild on health," administration officials have grown increasingly frustrated with what they view as a series of catastrophic missteps.

The GOP could be set for a grueling set of results in the midterm elections, with a brutal loss in Mar-a-Lago a possible sign of results to come. The Mar-a-Lago seat flip in the historically red seat shocked pundits, and CNN expert Harry Enten said it was likely a sign of things to come for the GOP.

"What is happening right now in Mar-a-Lago is unlikely to stay a Mar-a-Lago. It is likely to expand nationwide and to expand in the midterm elections as well," he said.
