PETALING JAYA: The Johor state election will not affect the federal government’s stability as the nation’s political dynamics have shifted, says Barisan Nasional (BN) deputy chairman Mohamad Hasan.

Mohamad, also known as Tok Mat, said the change in dynamics had led to different political configurations at the central and state levels, without affecting Putrajaya’s stability, Bernama reported.

“In Sabah, it is unique: (Warisan) is in the opposition there but is with the unity government at the federal level.

“So the political dynamics of Malaysia have changed. We should not be tied to the old way of thinking,” said the Umno deputy president.

Despite being close allies in Putrajaya, BN and Pakatan Harapan are clashing for all 56 seats up for grabs in the Johor election.

There has also been talk of BN having a tacit election pact with PAS, which is only contesting 11 seats under the Perikatan Nasional banner.
