Indonesian star Bryan Domani and Cannes-winning filmmaker Wregas Bhanuteja set for ‘Para Perasuk’ gala in KL

KUALA LUMPUR, June 18 — Fresh off its Sundance Film Festival premiere, Indonesian supernatural drama Para Perasuk is bringing two of its key talents to Malaysia, with star Bryan Domani and filmmaker Wregas Bhanuteja set to attend the film’s gala premiere in Kuala Lumpur.

The pair will appear at TGV Sunway Pyramid on June 24, ahead of the Indonesia–Singapore–France co-production’s nationwide Malaysian theatrical release on June 25 through Antenna Entertainments.

Bryan, an actor, singer and model, portrays Ananto in the film.

The German-Indonesian performer first rose to fame as a member of child pop group Super7 before establishing himself as one of Indonesia’s most recognisable young actors.

He has also maintained a music career with tracks including Bumi, Kereta and This Place, which have collectively garnered thousands of streams and views across Spotify and YouTube.

Wregas, meanwhile, has built a strong international reputation through his films. In 2016, he became the first Indonesian director to win an award at the Cannes Film Festival for his short film Prenjak.

His feature breakthrough, Photocopier (2021), earned multiple accolades, including Best Picture and Best Director at the Indonesian Film Festival.

His follow-up, Andragogy (2023), continued that momentum with 17 nominations at the 2023 Indonesian Film Festival, including Best Picture, and won Best Actress for Sha Ine Febriyanti and Best Supporting Actress for Prilly Latuconsina.

His latest film, Para Perasuk, also stars Angga Yunanda, Maudy Ayunda, Anggun — the internationally renowned Indonesian-French singer-songwriter and television personality — and Chicco Kurniawan.

The supernatural drama first gained international attention following its world premiere on January 24, 2026, at the Sundance Film Festival, where it was selected for the World Cinema Dramatic Competition.

It opened theatrically in Indonesia on April 23 and has since recorded an estimated 148,092 admissions.

Para Perasuk follows Bayu, a young spirit channeller who dreams of leading his own trance party.

As he pursues that ambition, he must navigate the challenges of controlling his gift while balancing tradition against the pressures of modern life.
