KUALA LUMPUR, June 15 — Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) will not join any political coalition in the upcoming Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections, its founder Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli said.
He said the decision would allow the party to chart its own strategy without being tied down by coalition negotiations or political compromises, reported Sinar Harian.
Rafizi said the current political landscape shows voters are increasingly tired of coalition-based politics, which he claimed no longer delivers the reforms the public expects.
“So you have Pakatan Harapan (PH), Barisan Nasional (BN), Perikatan Nasional (PN), and now people are expecting another round of coalitions.
“But I think the public is already fed up and exhausted with coalitions.
“The reality is, there is sufficient support for a party that does not align itself with any coalition, because it frees us from being bound by collective positions,” he said during the Jelajah Kancil Negeri Perak programme in Ipoh on Sunday.
The former PKR deputy president also said Bersama does not see itself as a “third force”, a label often used for smaller political parties.
He said the term still operates within an old framework that depends on coalition politics.
“Our hypothesis and offering are very different compared to other parties that claim to be a third force in elections,” he said.
However, Rafizi acknowledged it was still too early to gauge Bersama’s true strength, as the party was only established about three weeks ago.
