Trump biographer Michael Wolff predicts President Donald Trump will likely fire Secretary of State Marco Rubio because Rubio has upstaged the President— what Wolff describes as a "fatal flaw" in Trump's administration.

During an episode of Inside Trump's Head by The Daily Beast, Wolff explained that appearing more capable than Trump constitutes grounds for termination.

Why Trump is eager to fire another cabinet member: biographer

"In Trumpworld, this is absolutely fatal," Wolff explained, "When you become the contrast gainer against Donald Trump, you're finished."

He noted Rubio is "the only guy who seems to show up for work every day and to sit down at a desk and to be capable of addressing what's on his desk at any given time," which paradoxically endangers his position.

Wolff's comments follow Trump's indifferently received proposal of a Vance-Rubio 2028 ticket.

Multiple cabinet members have already departed, including FDA Commissioner Marty Makary, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, and Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum seemed unaware that solar energy could be stored in batteries to provide power at night.

During a House Natural Resources Committee hearing on Wednesday, Burgum complained about claims that solar power was the "cheapest form of energy."

"All of these projects are describing in Nevada have one thing in common," Burgum said. "When the sun goes down, they produce zero electricity. And this nation over-rotated towards intermittent forms of energy. And the idea that we could add intermittent and shut down baseload is what put our grid at deep risk."

"You may have an incremental source, but it doesn't work," he continued. "The whole machine doesn't work when the sun goes down. And there's examples from around the world of this happening."

The interior secretary suggested that House members needed secure briefings to understand how the solar energy industry worked.

"Very few of these components for the solar industry are coming from the U.S.," he insisted. "They're coming from China."

"And I just want to have a rational discussion with everybody," Burgum added. "This is not an ideological thing. It's about reliable, affordable, and secure. Those three things. I'm all for rational conversation about it."

Following his remarks, Rep. Jared Huffman (D-CA) said he wished to enter information into the official record.

"Chairman, I request unanimous consent to enter into the record," the California Democrat requested, "this amazing new technology that apparently the secretary is unaware of, it's a battery."

"China's figured it out," Huffman noted. "That's why they're cleaning our clock on clean energy, but I want to enter that into the record."

Burgum has emerged as a controversial figure in the Trump administration's approach to renewable energy, overseeing the approval of solar power projects on federal lands while facing criticism from environmental advocates and energy industry stakeholders.

As head of the Department of the Interior, which manages vast tracts of public lands and oversees energy development policies, Burgum has wielded significant authority over decisions regarding solar installations on federal property.

President Donald Trump landed in Beijing, China Wednesday ahead of his high-stakes summit with President Xi Jinping, but critics soon noticed a key figure was absent during Trump’s arrival.

“Donald Trump has arrived in China to find that President Xi did NOT greet him at the airport,” reads a statement from the progressive advocacy platform Call To Activism, run by digital strategist and political influencer Joe Gallina.

“MAGA is in spin mode heralding the ‘red carpet treatment,’ but the visit is already at a rocky start. Instead of a presidential welcome, Trump was greeted by US Ambassador to China David Perdue; Xi’s vice president, Han Zheng; China’s Ambassador to Washington Xie Feng; and Executive Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Ma Zhaoxu.”

Trump was, in fact, not greeted by Xi as he stepped off Air Force One Wednesday, and instead met by other Chinese officials. Trump’s own niece, Mary L. Trump, took notice of what she characterized as a snub as well.

“Xi couldn't be bothered to meet Donald at the airport because he understands as well as Donald does that humiliating your underlings is a great way to keep them in check,” she wrote in a social media post on X to her more than 1.6 million followers.

As argued by journalist Charbel Antoun, Trump walks into the U.S.-China summit with a “weakened” hand given his inability to secure a peace deal with Iran amid the ongoing U.S.-Israeli war against the Middle East nation. And on Monday, Trump’s efforts to end the war on his own terms were undercut after Tehran agreed to a U.S.-Iran peace deal brokered by China.

The Trump administration is being investigated for concealing a murder warrant from a federal judge in Rhode Island, Melissa DuBose, so she would release a potentially dangerous immigrant from detention, all so they could attack that judge's record. But even now, Trump administration officials are trying to pretend all of this was the judge's fault, prompting outrage.

On Wednesday, the official X account for the Department of Homeland Security posted a quote from their general counsel James Percival in response to an article about DuBose from the far-right website The Federalist, saying, “Given the radical activists President Biden installed across the country, this case of judicial misconduct is neither surprising nor uncommon.”

Aaron Reichlin-Melnick, a senior fellow for the American Immigration Council, was stunned at their ongoing duplicity.

"This is INSANE," wrote Reichlin-Melnick in a post to X. "Here's DHS *still* attacking Judge DuBose, even though: - ICE told the DOJ attorney he was not permitted to tell Judge DuBose the man seeking release was wanted for murder; and - The DOJ attorney followed ICE's request and did not disclose that fact to the judge!"

This comes after DuBose has ordered an ethics investigation into the Justice Department attorney who failed to provide the warrant information to her.

It also comes as the Trump administration faces increasingly furious courts over how they are handling immigration detention in general.
