Bitmine Immersion Technologies has purchased 71,524 ETH, lifting its total Ethereum holdings to 4.87 million ETH and giving the company control of 4.04% of the entire Ethereum supply.

The updated figures come from an SEC Form 8-K filed on April 13, 2026. As of April 12 at 3:30 p.m. ET, Bitmine reported holding 4,874,858 ETH valued at $2,206 per token.

The company’s prior treasury snapshot, disclosed on April 6, listed 4,803,334 ETH at $2,123 per token and a 3.98% share of supply. The difference between the two filings implies a one-week accumulation of 71,524 ETH.

Bitmine’s Latest ETH Purchase in Focus

Bitmine’s chairman Thomas “Tom” Lee noted that the company has maintained an increased pace of ETH buys in each of the past four weeks. The latest addition pushes Bitmine’s position from 3.98% to 4.04% of circulating supply, based on a 120.7 million ETH supply figure cited in the filing.

At the $2,206 price disclosed in the 8-K, the full 4,874,858 ETH position carries an implied market value of roughly $10.75 billion. Bitmine also reported that 3,334,637 of its ETH is staked, valued at approximately $7.4 billion.

ETH traded at $2,200.15 at press time, up 0.54% over 24 hours, with a market cap near $265.8 billion and daily volume of $13.5 billion.

Why 4.04% of Ethereum Supply Matters

Holding 4.04% of any major layer-1 network’s circulating supply is an unusual concentration for a single corporate entity. For context, Ethereum’s total supply of 120.7 million tokens means Bitmine’s position is larger than most institutional ETH allocations combined.

That level of concentration draws attention from traders watching for supply-side signals. When a single holder controls more than 4% of a liquid asset, its staking, unstaking, or selling decisions can influence order-book depth and short-term pricing.

The fact that 3,334,637 ETH, roughly 68% of Bitmine’s total, is already staked suggests the company is not positioning for a near-term exit. Staked ETH earns validator rewards but faces unstaking queues, which limits the speed at which it can re-enter liquid markets.

Broader market sentiment remains cautious. The Fear & Greed Index sat at 12, classified as Extreme Fear, even as Bitcoin held above the $70,500 support level during the same period.

Market Takeaways From Bitmine’s Ethereum Bet

Bitmine’s four consecutive weeks of accelerated buying signal institutional conviction at a time when retail sentiment leans bearish. The company’s BMNR ticker has become a proxy for corporate Ethereum exposure, similar to how other firms have positioned around Bitcoin treasury strategies.

The regulatory trail is notable. Both the April 6 company release detailing the 4,803,334 ETH snapshot and the latest SEC 8-K filing provide auditable on-chain treasury disclosures, a practice that lends credibility to the accumulation narrative.

Meanwhile, Ethereum’s DeFi ecosystem continues to attract protocol activity. The network remains the dominant settlement layer for decentralized finance, a factor that may underpin institutional interest from holders like Bitmine even as recent exploits involving bridged assets have tested confidence in cross-chain infrastructure.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Bitmine added 71,524 ETH in one week, bringing its total to 4,874,858 ETH and 4.04% of Ethereum’s circulating supply.
  • 68% of that position is staked, with 3,334,637 ETH locked in validators, signaling a long-term holding strategy.
  • The accumulation continues despite Extreme Fear sentiment (index at 12), making Bitmine a contrarian buyer at scale.

Traders and investors will likely watch Bitmine’s next weekly 8-K disclosure for signs of whether the buying pace holds. Any shift toward unstaking or reduced purchases would be an early signal that the company’s Ethereum thesis is evolving. For now, the broader crypto market has another data point suggesting that institutional-scale capital is flowing into ETH, even when sentiment says otherwise.
