Rift in PN gives PH an edge but we’ll focus on our strengths, says Fahmi

MUAR: PAS’s decision not to assist Bersatu’s election campaign is expected to give Pakatan Harapan a slight advantage in winning more seats in the Johor state election, according to PH communications director Fahmi Fadzil.

Fahmi said that although PH’s rivals are facing internal turmoil, and splinter parties such as Bersama have emerged, the coalition’s focus remains on ensuring that its supporters turn out to vote on July 11.

“We’re not ignoring the other parties, but our focus will be on PH’s strengths,” he said after the Jiwa@Komuniti Madani programme, Sembang Santai Fifa World Cup 2026 Edition, at the Parit Jawa market with PH’s Sungai Balang candidate, Soraya Badaruddin.

“For PH, the priority is to mobilise our machinery, win the people’s support, and prove that PH is capable of leading and representing the people and voters of Johor,” he said.

Fahmi, who is the communications minister, also urged all parties to refrain from raising issues related to race, religion and royalty (3R) throughout the campaign period.

On Friday, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said the party’s election machinery would not assist Bersatu candidates in the state election.

Yesterday, PAS instructed its machinery in constituencies contested by Bersatu to work in seats contested by PAS and other PN component parties instead.

PAS has fielded candidates in 11 seats, and Bersatu 16, with both parties contesting under the PN banner.

Fahmi also said PH would make every effort to form the next Johor government.

“PH will do its very best. We are starting with defending the 12 seats we won in the last state election, and we hope everyone will work hard to increase that number.

“Yesterday, PH’s secretary-general announced that the coalition’s manifesto will be unveiled within the next few days. I believe we will demonstrate that PH is serious about winning more seats and forming the state government,” he said.
