THE Department of Transportation (DoTr) has ordered the management of Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) and Sumitomo Corp. to explain the service interruption at the rail line on Wednesday.
In a memorandum on Wednesday, Transportation Acting Secretary Giovanni Z. Lopez has ordered MRT-3 and Sumitomo to provide a detailed explanation on the cause of service interruptions between Buendia and Guadalupe stations on June 17.
Sumitomo is the service provider for the rehabilitation and maintenance of MRT-3.
“Provide a detailed explanation on the cause of the service interruption including actions taken to address the same, and show cause why no administrative sanction should be taken against you for failure to ensure efficient operations of MRT-3,” Mr. Lopez said.
The DoTr has also ordered MRT-3 to provide free access for all passengers on June 17, which it said should be charged to Sumitomo, citing the existing agreement between Sumitomo and the government. — Ashley Erika O. Jose
