Where To Buy Tokenized Stocks in 2025? Edel Finance Emerges As Traders Pick vs. Ondo & Coinbase

When Standard Chartered released its $30 trillion 2030 target for the real-world asset (RWA) tokenization market, many critics suggested the forecast was overly optimistic. However, news of Coinbase launching its own equities tokenization solution, combined with Ondo Finance and Edel Finance ($EDEL) expanding their tokenization offerings, suggests those projections may not have been unrealistic after all.

Last week, Coinbase launched its tokenized equities solution as the leading U.S. crypto exchange continues building its “everything app.” The move signals a major push toward bringing traditional financial assets on-chain and will provide an answer to many traders asking, “Where to buy tokenized stocks?”

Ondo Finance has also contributed to this momentum, announcing plans to launch tokenized stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) on the Solana blockchain in 2026. The strategy aims to leverage Solana’s large user base and technical performance while expanding Ondo’s existing suite of on-chain financial products.

Edel Finance has similarly entered the spotlight with the launch of its testnet for tokenized stock lending and borrowing. The testnet’s user limit of 3,000 was reached in days and has now been increased to 5,000. This has resulted in a meaningful boost to the project’s native $EDEL token.

Edel Finance: Providing Lending and Borrowing for Tokenized Stocks

The Edel Finance ecosystem is not trying to compete directly with Coinbase or Ondo Finance. In fact, Ondo Finance is one of Edel’s partners. Instead, the project aims to improve how equities function once they are tokenized by leveraging the Base blockchain to provide a dedicated solution for lending and borrowing stocks.

“Our vision is a fairer equity market where everyday traders and investors can earn income from the stocks they already own. Securities lending has existed for decades, but the value has largely been captured by intermediaries. Edel is designed to return that value to users through transparent, on-chain infrastructure,” said Andrés Soltermann, CEO of Edel Finance.

At a functional level, Edel allows users to buy tokenized stocks, lend them out to earn yield, borrow stocks to express short or hedged positions, and collateralize equity holdings to unlock liquidity without selling. All of these processes are governed by smart contracts rather than centralized intermediaries.

The model is often compared to Aave, one of the most successful DeFi lending protocols, but adapted specifically for equities rather than cryptocurrencies. While Aave proved the demand for decentralized lending, Edel applies similar mechanics to tokenized stocks.

The recent testnet launch demonstrates this approach in practice, giving traders real-world exposure to lending and borrowing tokenized equities and validating the platform’s utility ahead of a full launch.

Ondo Finance ($ONDO) Makes ETF Tokenization Move

Despite weak $ONDO price action, Ondo Finance has continued to build out its tokenization products. The project remains a leader in the market due to its focus on institutional-grade tokenization and its U.S. Treasury offering, which has proven highly successful and set a benchmark for other projects building in the sector.

Recently, Ondo announced plans to expand into tokenized stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs), including a Solana-based deployment scheduled for 2026. The move is designed to leverage Solana’s scalability and user base while broadening Ondo’s tokenized asset offering beyond fixed-income products.

While the $ONDO token has lost roughly 75% of its value over the past year, long-term forecasts for the project remain positive, driven by Ondo’s continued product development and its established position as a provider of institutional-focused tokenized financial products.

Coinbase: Tokenization Platform Goes Live

Arguably, the biggest news in the past month within the tokenization market has been Coinbase launching its tokenized equities solution, which will allow the exchange’s estimated 100 million users to buy tokenized stocks. Coinbase has positioned the product as part of its broader push toward becoming an “everything app” for financial assets.

“We’re building an exchange for everything,” said Max Branzburg, Head of Consumer and Business Products at Coinbase. “Everything you want to trade, in a one-stop shop, on-chain.” While the announcement has not moved Coinbase’s stock in the short term, it is widely viewed as a major boost for the tokenization market overall.

The scale of Coinbase’s user base is also expected to benefit platforms such as Edel Finance by increasing the number of tokenized stockholders seeking ways to earn passive yield.

Final Thoughts

Even as the broader crypto market struggles to build momentum, the tokenization niche continues to grow. The Coinbase announcement has been a massive boost to the industry, bringing one of the biggest names in crypto into the tokenization market. It also resolves the barriers traders faced when wondering where to buy tokenized stocks. Edel Finance ($EDEL) has emerged as a potential beneficiary of the Coinbase news due to its utility for tokenized stockholders seeking passive income, as well as offering a solution for buying tokenized stocks in a decentralized manner.
