This Trust Wallet Version Could Drain Your Shiba Inu Holdings

A major security incident at Trust Wallet has triggered immediate alerts across the Shiba Inu ecosystem. The multi-chain self-custody platform confirmed that a specific browser extension version contained critical vulnerabilities, resulting in $7 million in user losses.

Susbarium Shibarium Trustwatch, a dedicated watchdog account protecting the Shiba Inu community from scams and security threats, issued an urgent warning to all users. The alert targets users of Trust Wallet’s web browser extension, specifically version 2.68.

Critical Extension Vulnerability Identified

Trust Wallet extension v2.68 contains a serious security flaw that puts user funds at risk. The vulnerability affects only this specific version of the Chrome browser extension. Users must disable the compromised version immediately and install the updated v2.69 release from the official Chrome Web Store.

Mobile app users are not at risk from this breach. Other browser extensions remain secure and functional. The problem exists solely within the v2.68 web extension for Chrome users.

Susbarium emphasized the urgency of this update in its community alert. The organization has established itself as a reliable source for security information within the Shiba Inu space. Earlier in December, Susbarium warned community members about fraudulent actors impersonating moderators and technical leads. These scammers operated on Discord and Telegram, sending fake notifications about wallet bugs to lure victims toward malicious websites.

Financial Impact and Compensation Plans

Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao publicly confirmed the extent of the damage. The breach resulted in exactly $7 million in losses across affected accounts. Trust Wallet corroborated this figure through its official channels.

The wallet provider announced plans to reimburse all victims of the security incident. Trust Wallet stated it is working through the final stages of the refund process. Affected users will receive direct communication regarding progress and updates throughout the compensation timeline.

The company stressed that legitimate correspondence will only come through verified official channels. No representatives will contact users through unsolicited messages or third-party platforms.

Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC

The post Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson has weighed in on whether the Federal Reserve should make a 25 basis points (bps) Fed rate cut or 50 bps cut. This comes ahead of the Fed decision today at today’s FOMC meeting, with the market pricing in a 25 bps cut. Bitcoin and the broader crypto market are currently trading flat ahead of the rate cut decision. Franklin Templeton CEO Weighs In On Potential FOMC Decision In a CNBC interview, Jenny Johnson said that she expects the Fed to make a 25 bps cut today instead of a 50 bps cut. She acknowledged the jobs data, which suggested that the labor market is weakening. However, she noted that this data is backward-looking, indicating that it doesn’t show the current state of the economy. She alluded to the wage growth, which she remarked is an indication of a robust labor market. She added that retail sales are up and that consumers are still spending, despite inflation being sticky at 3%, which makes a case for why the FOMC should opt against a 50-basis-point Fed rate cut. In line with this, the Franklin Templeton CEO said that she would go with a 25 bps rate cut if she were Jerome Powell. She remarked that the Fed still has the October and December FOMC meetings to make further cuts if the incoming data warrants it. Johnson also asserted that the data show a robust economy. However, she noted that there can’t be an argument for no Fed rate cut since Powell already signaled at Jackson Hole that they were likely to lower interest rates at this meeting due to concerns over a weakening labor market. Notably, her comment comes as experts argue for both sides on why the Fed should make a 25 bps cut or…
