How Does the Securitize-Computershare Agreement Affect the BTC Market?
Tokenization specialist Securitize and transfer agent giant Computershare’s agreement is bringing the US stock market’s massive $70 trillion volume to blockchain infrastructure. Thanks to this BlackRock-backed partnership, publicly traded companies can issue blockchain-based shares without disrupting the existing market structure. Tokenized equity products called Issuer-Sponsored Tokens (ISTs) are offered alongside traditional shares, giving investors the option to hold them via digital wallets or classic systems. This move brings Wall Street’s traditional mechanisms closer to blockchain tracks. As we saw in the BTC detailed analysis, such integrations accelerate BTC’s institutional adoption.
ISTs and Computershare’s BTC-Compatible Transfer Services
The system positions Computershare as the transfer agent for tokenized shares as well; it manages company records, processes dividend distributions and stock splits in both traditional and digital formats. Securitize provides the infrastructure, but blockchain elements stay in the background. This structure abandons the derivative token tactic commonly used in the crypto world and promises direct ownership. While serving more than 25,000 companies, Computershare supports approximately 58% of the S&P 500 index as a transfer agent. Names like Securitize CEO Carlos Domingo and Computershare North America Issuer Services CEO Ann Bowering emphasize that ISTs are not based on derivatives and provide companies with the opportunity to preserve their shareholder base. The BTC futures market is also affected by similar ownership models.
Tokenization’s Contribution to the BTC Ecosystem
The partnership ensures that tokenized shares work in compliance with existing market rules, increasing ownership and transfer speed. This development indicates that traditional finance is accelerating its blockchain integration. As similar initiatives multiply in the sector, this move, which integrates with tools like BlackRock’s BTC ETFs, strengthens BTC’s role as a long-term store of value. Wall Street players are transitioning to next-generation asset management models.
